On September 25, 2015 at the UN headquarters in New York the world leaders, including heads of state and government, adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals aimed at eradicating poverty, combating inequality and injustice, and addressing climate change.
Kazakhstan as a country committed to reach the Sustainable Development Goals has been actively working in all relevant areas and is ready for contributing to global goals successful achievement.
KAZAKHSTAN VOLUNTARY NATIONAL REVIEW
Kazakhstan presented the first Voluntary National Survey of Kazakhstan in the framework of the High-level Political Forum on the UN Sustainable Development Goals in July 16, 2019 in New York.
Reviews were submitted by delegations from 48 countries. The forum was dedicated to the issues of empowering people and ensuring their inclusiveness and equality. The main focus was made on six thematic goals: SDG 4 “Quality Education”, SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, SDG 10 “Reduced Inequality”, SDG 13 “Climate Action”, SDG 16 “Peace, Justice and strong Institutions”, SDG 17 “Partnership for the Goals”.
COORDINATION COUNCIL ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS IN KAZAKHSTAN
The Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development Goals chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan was created on behalf of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 15, 2018. The coordinating body of the Council is the Ministry of National Economy.
The Economic Research Institute was assigned as the Council Secretariat providing expert and analytical support.
