The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi has held talks with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ivan Korčok and the Minister of Defence of Slovakia Jaroslav Nad'.
Official meetings were held within the framework of the 15th Globsec International Forum. Parties expressed their mutual readiness to further build and expand the partnership at a new stage of relations including within the framework of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Kazakhstan and the European Union and its Member States. The Foreign Ministers discussed in detail ways to strengthen the political dialogue as well as trade and economic cooperation. Parties noted a huge potential of such interaction supporting the active work of Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (IGC), the idea of creating Business Council between these two states and exchange of business delegations. In addition, the parties outlined prospects for cooperation between development aid agencies KazAID and SlovakAID. During the talks, Tleuberdi and Defense Minister Nad' discussed issues of military and military-technical cooperation, the legal basis for which is provided by relevant intergovernmental agreement. They discussed issues on exchange of experience in the field of training of Kazakhstan peacekeepers, expanding their participation in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN. They also announced mutual invitations to the Heads of Defense Departments and companies to participate in two specialized exhibitions of weapons and military equipment, IDEB 2021 and KADEX 2021, which are to be held in Bratislava and Nur-Sultan in March and June next year, respectively. At the same time, Minister M. Tleuberdi met with the Heads of large Slovak companies, during which businessmen were introduced with the investment opportunities of Kazakhstan. As it is known, there are more than 40 enterprises with the Slovak capital on Kazakhstan market today, which is an important indicator of the mutual interest in business circles of two countries. Machine construction, defense industry, engineering and infrastructure development, agro-industrial complex, pharmaceuticals, advanced digital technologies and their implementation in the process of creating Industry 4.0 were identified as promising areas of economic cooperation. During the visit, a number of memorandums on cooperation were signed as well. In particular, the parties will cooperate on mutually beneficial basis in the fields of water affairs and forestry as well as in tourism. At the Globsec Forum, the Foreign Minister also held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Ekaterina Zakharieva, Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu and First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova. Minister M. Tleuberdi also met with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jan Kubis, and discussed the initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev highlighted at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
