Global Social Mobility Index

The first Global Social Mobility Index is presented by the World Economic Forum. In this rating, Kazakhstan took 38th place, ahead of countries such as Russia and China.


Denmark achieved the best results (85.2), Finland took the second place (83.6), followed by Norway (83.6) and Sweden (83.5).

According to the "Working conditions" indicator, Kazakhstan entered the top 20 countries, taking 16th place with 69 points ahead of such countries as Singapore, Australia and Canada.

According to the criterion "Fairness of wages" Kazakhstan took the 25th place, leaving behind Germany and Great Britain, and according to the "Employment Opportunities" - the 30th place, ahead of Sweden and Canada.

With the coefficient of coverage of employees by collective bargaining agreements at the level of 75%, Kazakhstan ranked 12th.

In the ranking of education access, Kazakhstan ranks 32nd, ahead of Portugal (36th) and Italy (37th). In terms of quality and equality in the field of education, Kazakhstan ranks 33rd.

According to the criterion "Continuing education" Kazakhstan was assigned the 46th line of the rating (51 points).

In terms of the number of economically active women, Kazakhstan also took a fairly high line - 22nd place.

In terms of unemployment among people with higher education, Kazakhstan ranks 33rd, followed by Ireland, New Zealand and Denmark.

As noted in the WEF report, increase of countries social mobility index by 10 points will lead to an additional 4.4% GDP growth by 2030.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2021 will be held in Singapore from 13 to 16 May.  According to media reports, the meeting in May will be preceded by the Davos Dialogues. They will b.organized digitally by the WEF during the week of January 25th.
