Innovations in the oil and gas industry

13.03.2021

The Ministry of Energy together with the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of NIT JSC is launching an information system for oil and gas condensate metering (ISOM) in full mode.

The mechanism will automate the process of collecting, processing, storing and using data on the amount of crude oil and gas condensate in circulation, prepared for delivery to the consumer.

ISOM is created as an effective tool for accounting for oil and gas condensate starting from the preparation, transportation, storage, shipment, sale, import and export outside of Kazakhstan. This will also lead to a reduction in human errors when submitting reports and a reduction in the share of paper document flow.

The system of accounting for oil and gas condensate will be integrated with the existing information systems of enterprises operating in the field of oil production, transportation and processing. All data on the volumes of extraction, production, preparation, processing, transportation, storage, sale, shipment, losses, import and export from Kazakhstan will be transferred to the information system. Companies may also use the installed metering devices as internal controls or for other purposes.

The authorized body will be able to quickly make decisions at the state level based on operational data, predict the turnover of oil and gas condensate, automatically calculate the material balance and generate reports based on data obtained from metering devices.

At the same time, to obtain point information, all data is received from eac.organization separately, and reports are generated depending on the activity of the enterprise.

To date, the system has been launched in pilot mode and 3 oil transportatio.organizations – KazTransOil, Munaitas and Kazakhstan-China Pipeline-are connected to it. Caspian Pipeline Consortium is in the process of connecting. This year, it is planned to connect to the system a number o.organizations that provide 60% of the total oil production of Kazakhstan. In total, in 2021-2022, 3 oil refineries, 16 mini refineries, 4 oil transportatio.organizations and 100 subsurface users will send data to ISOM.

According to the results of January-February 2021, 9.14 bln cubic meters of gas were produced.

Since the beginning of the year, natural gas production has decreased by almost 10%.

In January of this year, the country produced 4.7 bln cubic meters of natural gas in the liquid or gaseous state — 9.6% less than a year earlier. The main part of production traditionally fell on Atyrau (1.9 bln cubic meters, minus 16.9% for the year) and West Kazakhstan (1.9 bln cubic meters, minus 0.3%) regions-41% of the Republic of Kazakhstan for each of the regions. Direct production of natural gas in the gaseous state amounted to 2.1 bln cubic meters (of which 1.1 bln cubic meters accounted for commercial gas). m), associated petroleum gas — 2.6 bln cubic meters.

The production of liquefied petroleum gas for two months amounted to 520 thousand tons, which is 100% of the plan for the reporting period. During the reporting period, 1.39 bln cubic meters of gas were exported.

Oil and condensate production in January-February reached 13.8 mln tons.

TCO (Tengizchevroil) produced 4.3 mln tons of oil, the North Caspian project-Kashagan-produced 2.4 mln tons, and Karachaganak-2.1 mln tons.

During the reporting period, 10.75 mln tons of oil were exported, which is 100% compared to January-February 2021 plan.
