A roadmap for the development of the construction industry until 2025 has been developed. This was announced by the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov during a Government meeting on March 16.

Together with the National Board of Entrepreneurs and the Samruk-Kazyna Foundation, the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan has developed a Roadmap for the development of the construction industry until 2025, which provides for all mechanisms to support the industry. According to the head of the department, within the framework of the project, 110 projects are being implemented this year for a total amount of about KZT 2 trln with the creation of more than 12 thousand new permanent jobs.

According to him, by 2025, 103 million square meters of housing will be built in the country, which is an additional opportunity for businesses to develop the domestic market of building materials.

It should be noted that at the moment, domestic manufacturers fully cover the needs of the domestic market for 10 commodity items (iron-concrete products, concrete, dry mixes, paintwork, ceramic bricks, silicate bricks, cellular concrete blocks, internal door blocks, steel door blocks, glass). "In order to fully cover the domestic market with domestic construction materials, we are currently working on the creation of import-substituting production facilities in Kazakhstan with foreign multinational companies," the Minister informed.

In addition, according to the Ministry, this year it is planned to provide:
  • growth in the production of building materials-at the level of 6%, including the production of iron-concrete products (+16%), bricks (+15%), cement (+11%), construction solutions (+13%), thermal insulation materials (+12.5%), drywall (+11%).
  • growth of ferrous metallurgy by 5%, including production of ferroalloys (by 10.4%), steel (by 17%) and rolled products (by 19%), non-ferrous metallurgy (by 4.5%), including zinc (by 18.6%), lead (by 18.8%), copper concentrate (by 9%), aluminum (by 6%);
  • growth in production of phosphorous fertilizers (+16.6%), ammophos (+15.4%), ammonium nitrate (+10.7%) and chromium compounds (+13.6%);
  • growth in mechanical engineering - by 13%, including the automotive industry (+29%), the production of railway cars (+180%), agricultural machinery (+58%) and batteries (+10%);
  • the growth of the pharmaceutical industry's production volume is at the level of 5%, which will be achieved by increasing the production of medicines by 10.2%, launching production of a vaccine against coronavirus infection and 5 new projects.
  • the growth in light industry - by 5% - will increase the volume of textile production by 6%, including cotton yarn (+ 50%), fabric (+14%), carpets (+19%), clothing (+11%), leather (+30.4%).
In turn, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nogayev shared plans for the construction of plants in the oil and gas industry.

"As part of the Nur Otan party's election program" The Path of Change: A decent life for everyone!", it is planned to ensure the growth of production of export - oriented petrochemical products by 9 times compared to 2019 by launching 5 plants for deep processing of oil and gas in Atyrau, Uralsk and Shymkent," Nurlan Nogayev said at a government meeting.

According to him, 3 factories are currently under construction:
  • for the production of polypropylene with a capacity of 500 thousand tons / year (Atyrau region);
  • for the production of technical gases with a capacity of 57 million tons. m3 of nitrogen and 34 million m3 of dry compressed air (Atyrau region);
  • for the production of polypropylene with a capacity of 81 thousand tons / year and octane-boosting additives for gasoline with a capacity of 57 thousand tons/year on the basis of raw materials of Shymkent Petrochemical Plant ( Shymkent).
In addition, according to the ministry, by 2025 it is planned to implement 2 potential projects: a plant for the production of polyethelenterephthalate with a capacity of 430 thousand tons per year; and a plant for the production of methanol with a capacity of 130 thousand tons per year.
