Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held talks with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso.
"During the period of the EBRD's activity in Kazakhstan, 280 projects totaling more than $9.4 billion were financed, 66% of them in the private sector. Investments were directed to the implementation of projects in priority sectors of the economy, such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, IT, finance, housing and utilities, as well as small and medium — sized businesses," Mamin said. The parties discussed the implementation of the program of decarbonization of the energy sector of Kazakhstan, the EBRD projects "Green Cities", modernization of sewage treatment plants, as well as support for small and medium-sized businesses. Special attention is paid to the construction projects of the Ишп Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD), the Asfendiyarov Hospital in Almaty and other healthcare facilities within the framework of public-private partnership. During the online meeting of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, a framework partnership agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EBRD to expand cooperation aimed at promoting sustainable development and growth of the country. The document was signed by the Minister of National Economy Asset Irgaliyev and the Head of the EBRD for Kazakhstan Agris Preimanis. Asset Irgaliyev stressed that Kazakhstan has implemented a number of successful projects with the participation of the EBRD, which have contributed to the development of a diversified, sustainable and inclusive model of economic growth. "I would like to emphasize once again that we highly value our strategic cooperation with the EBRD. The signed agreement will give a new impetus to our joint work," the head of the MNE added. The agreement covers issues of supporting the private sector, attracting foreign direct investment in the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, developing a "green" economy through the introduction of modern energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies, promoting innovation and digitalization through the development of venture financing, strengthening the legal and institutional framework for PPP, achieving financial and environmental sustainability in transport and housing and communal infrastructure, and other aspects of interaction
