The Head of State held a meeting on fight against COVID-19.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the country could face an overwhelmed health system.

«The health system could become overwhelmed. I instruct the Government and regional governors to take measures to equip intensive care units and make head doctors and deputy governors personally responsible for that,» said the President at the meeting on counteraction to the coronavirus infection.

He also gave instructions to the Health Ministry to ensure strict control over the quality and sufficient amount of personal protective means for health workers.

The government is charged with:
  • Suspending enforced collection of tax and customs debts. "These measures should be in effect temporarily until the start of a truly mass vaccination and the removal of most restrictions. I instruct the Agency for the Regulation and Development of the Financial Market and the National Bank to work out the possibility of deferring payments on loans to SMEs in the affected sectors of the economy. Bearing in mind that the government will still be able to change the situation with a pandemic for the better, primarily through mass vaccination in April, starting in May, we can begin to gradually remove restrictions on the activities of SMEs, including in the service sector, " said the head of state.
  • Digital solutions acceleration, which will preserve the mobility of the population in conditions of quarantine restrictions. Digital monitoring will help ensure the stability of business, especially in the service and retail sectors. “Scaling up the ASHYQ project is not only a business task. The government will have to ensure the expansion and active implementation of the system. It is also important to create an appropriate regulatory framework,” Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev explained.
