55 million tons of coal mined in the first half of the year

50.5 million tons of coal, 2.2 million tons of lignite and 2.1 million tons of coal concentrate were mined in the first half of the year. The volume of production in value terms is 162.3 billion tenge. It exceeds last year's figure by 1.4%.

Almost all production is traditionally concentrated in Pavlodar (62.5%) and Karaganda (31.8%) regions.

According to the results of five months, Kazakhstani miners provided demand (export plus sales in the domestic market) for coal by 99.4%. The share of coal and lignite exports accounted for 22.4% of resources: 10.5 million tons of coal were sent to foreign markets, which is 2.8% more than a year earlier.

According to MIIR, this year the country plans to produce 120 million tons of coal. Of these, 82 million tons will be supplied to the domestic market of the country, 38 million tons - for export.  In addition, the issues of increasing the volume of supplies to Ukraine (by 80 thousand tons) and to the PRC  (50 thousand tons) are being worked out.
