Sun Cable has announced the construction of the world's largest solar panel power plant worth $20 bln. It will be located between the Australian Darwin and Alice Springs with a capacity of 10 GW. Construction is scheduled to start in 2023. If the project is approved by the Northern Territory Environmental Protection Authority, the plant will be launched by early 2026. Electricity supplies to Singapore are planned for 2027 . It is planned that one-third of the electricity produced will be used in the Darwin power grid. The remaining two-thirds of electricity will be exported to Singapore via underwater high-voltage cables. Thus, the Newcastle Waters Solar Farm will be able to provide about one-fifth of Singapore's electricity needs. The construction of the power plant is supported by the Australian Government and two Australian billionaires, Mike Cannon-Brooks and Andrew Forrest.
