Euromonitor International has compiled a rating of countries with sustainable tourism. The list includes 99 states. The main evaluation criteria: environmental friendliness, awareness and responsibility in the development of the industry.
 

The rating takes into account the development of tourism itself and the conditions for the preservation of natural resources, social and cultural values of the society. Its goal is to achieve a higher standard of living for the population through economic growth and the preservation of environmental benefits for future generations.
 
The first positions were taken by Sweden, Finland and Austria. Mauritius (97th place), India (98th place) and Pakistan (99th place) complete the list.
 
From the CIS countries, Belarus was the leader – the 26th line. Next are Ukraine and Georgia - on the 30th and 41st places, respectively.
 
Kazakhstan took the 62nd place in the rating of sustainable tourism and was ahead of Russia and Turkey, which were placed on the 65th and 66th places, respectively.
 
Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Moldova were not included in the list.
 
"Around the world, there is a clear change in thinking and resistance to the old model of travel and tourism focused only on sales volumes. Instead, stakeholders come together and strive to 'get better' by creating sustainable tourism, " Caroline Bremner, Head of travel department at Euromonitor International says.
 
Euromonitor International studies global markets and conducts strategic research on industries, companies, economies, and consumers around the world. These studies are an important source of information for international companies, as well as for small and medium-sized enterprises.
 
On March 19, Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Magzum Mirzagaliyev, spoke about the measures for the development of ecotourism in the country in an interview with Kazakh edition.
 
"...Taking into account the world practice, we have developed and held presentations of the Concepts of development of ecological tourism of Ile-Alatau, Charyn national parks, Altyn-Emel and Kolsai kolderi. Here we have focused on the development of tourist routes and trails, the construction of tourist facilities without capital construction. The Concepts also provide for the creation of modern visit centers, glampings, campsites, Kazakh-auyl and places for caravanning. By 2025, it is planned to attract private investments in the amount of KZT 31 bln to these national parks, the expected flow of tourists will be more than 2 million people, more than a thousand new jobs will be created," the head of the department said.
