31.03.2021

The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on Tuesday decided to establish a working group on the issues of prompt deliveries of agricultural goods between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in the event of force majeure situations in the food markets of the participating countries.

The Working group will study the possibility of additional supplies of agricultural products to the union's partners in the event of a corresponding request from one of the union's member states. The tasks of the working group will include the formation of parameters of interstate supplies for a three-month period with the development, if necessary, of proposals for the development of mutual trade.

"The creation of such an operational platform is an element of the formation of a sustainable agri-food system of the union, which in case of force majeure will allow us to effectively use the potential of the union partners to meet the needs of the food market of our countries," Artak Kamalyan, member of the EEC Board for Industry and Agro – industrial complex, on the creation of the group, commented.

The working group includes representatives of the ministries of the member states and the commission, whose competence includes the development of the agricultural market, the report says.

It should be noted that in Kazakhstan, the food corporation increases the forward purchase of agricultural products.

The food corporation carries out forward purchase of agricultural products. This type of financial support was implemented and started last year in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State.

"To date, 74 agricultural enterprises have been financed in the amount of KZT 14.3 bln. At the same time, the amount of funding has almost doubled compared to last year, that is, this year it will amount to KZT 45.3 bln," Director of the Department of Production and Processing of Crop Products of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azat Sultanov said at a briefing of the Central Communications Service on March 30.

According to him, in order to provide the population with socially significant goods, this year the list of purchased products under the forward purchase has been expanded from 4 to 9 agricultural crops. Contracts will be signed for buckwheat, sunflower and other oilseeds.
