Turkey suspends flights with Kazakhstan

07.08.2020

The Air Astana plane could not get permission to fly on the Almaty - Istanbul - Almaty route. The reason is a call from the Turkish aviation authorities, which banned the plane's departure.

Kazakhstanis will be banned from entering Turkey for the next two weeks. The corresponding official letter came out only an hour after the call from the Turkish aviation authorities detained the plane taking off in this direction. Thus, the flight to Istanbul nearly fell through. And only after two hours of waiting, Air Astana received a one-time permission to carry it out.

"According to the letter, the ban applies flights from Iran, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan. The airline managed to obtain a one-time permit to complete the flight with 101 passengers on board. The next regular flight on this route is scheduled for today. This ban without prior notice will undoubtedly entail a serious delay and inconvenience for our passengers "-  the manager of corporate communications of Air Astana JSC, Tlek Abdrakhimov said.

It should be noted that in world practice such prohibitions by making a phone call at the time of  aircraft's preparation for the departure are unacceptable without prior notification by appropriate letters or notice notes.
