Kazakhstan and China: cargo transportation

For 8 months of 2020, the volume of cargo transportation through border crossings between China and Kazakhstan amounted to 14.2 million tons, which is 30% more than in the same period last year.

By the end of 2020, the parties expect the volume of cargo transportation through border crossings between China and Kazakhstan at the level of 21 million tons. An increase in traffic volumes is observed in the border areas Dostyk - Alashankou and Altynkol - Khorgos.
 
"Within the framework of the State Program for Infrastructure Development "Nurly Zhol" for 2020-2025, the implementation of the first stage of the project "Modernization of the Dostyk-Moiynty railway transport corridor. This will allow for unhindered, accelerated passage of trains through border stations and increase the volume of transit traffic through the territory of Kazakhstan. It is also planned that the implementation of infrastructure solutions will favorably affect the speed of container trains on the territory of Kazakhstan: 1,300-1,400 kilometers per day by 2025.
