The Board of Directors of the Nobel Foundation has decided that the 2020 Nobel prize will be SEK 10 mln. (USD million) for each category.

"The public announcement of the 2020 Nobel prize winners will begin on October 5. This year, it is especially important to note the achievements of the prize winners, which inspire and give us hope for the future. As the announcement week approaches, we are pleased to announce that we are increasing the amount by SEK 1 mln. this year," Lars Heikensten said, the Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation.

Since the beginning of 2012, the investment capital of the Nobel Foundation has grown significantly. The return on this capital during the corresponding period was close to 9 percent per year as a result of generally good market performance, as well as good results in managing the Foundation's own assets.

The 2020 Nobel prize winners will be announced starting October 5. Announcement will be broadcast live.
