02.10.2020

The Eurasian Economic Commission has published generalized data on the state budgets of the countries of the Eurasian Union for January-June 2020.

It turned out that Armenia was more restrained in expenditure than others. This is the only EAEU country that, according to the results of the first half of the year, remained in positive territory - with a surplus of 1.8% to GDP.

Consolidated budget of the public administration sector of the remaining four countries in relation to GDP – minus:

Kazakhstan - by 6.8%

Kyrgyzstan - 5%

Belarus - 3.3%

Russia - by 1.3%.

A comparative analysis with data for 2019 shows that all countries have struggled to maintain the same level of income. But public administration spending increased in four countries. The exception was Armenia, which has been living in austerity mode for half a year - public administration spending decreased from 22.4% in December 2019 to 12.6% of GDP in the first half of 2020.
