SDG Monitoring Committee

On June 4, the first meeting of the Committee for Monitoring the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (hereinafter referred to as the Committee), a consultative and advisory body of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held. The meeting of the Committee was opened by Vice-Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov. He introduced the participants of the event to the tasks and composition of the new advisory body. Main tasks of the Committee:
The working body of the Committee is Economic Research Institute JSC.
The participants of the meeting focused on the ongoing work on the harmonization of SDG indicators. Ainur Dossanova, Head of the Statistics Department of the SDGs, Bureau of National Statistics, noted the importance of questions on inconsistent indicators and reported on the need for appropriate decisions. The Committee members discussed the upcoming work on the implementation of the Government's Protocol Instructions, in particular, on improving the monitoring of SDG indicators and activating the work of interdepartmental working groups on the SDGs. The Coordination Council for the Sustainable Development Goals, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was established on behalf of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 15, 2018. The coordinating body of the Council is the Ministry of National Economy. The Secretariat is the Economic Research Institute JSC, which provides expert and analytical support. The Economic Research Institute is developing a draft methodology for assessing the Kazakhstan Index of Child Well-being. Since May 11, 2021, the draft methodology has been discussed among the general public. Read more: Sustainable Development Goals
