On March 27-29, 2019, Economic Research Institute employees, Kimbat Akhmetzhanova and Bakhytgul Eleusizova as part of the Kazakhstan delegation attended the 6th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development in Bangkok, Thailand. The event wa.organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
In the main part of the event, in the framework of
plenary sessions and round tables, a discussion was held on 6
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).So, the countries participating in the implementation of the SDGs will have to present voluntary national reviews in 2019 in New York at the Political Forum of the UN General Assembly.
On March 28, at a plenary session devoted to this issue, Bakhytgul Eleusizova spoke about the role of the Institute in preparing this review on Kazakhstan.In particular, it was noted that the country has created an architecture for coordinating the implementation of the SDGs and preparing a review under the leadership of a high level. The Institute provides information and analytical support to the created 5 thematic working groups, including support for the involvement of a wide range of stakeholders (government bodies, business, NGOs, research and internationa.organizations), with which the SDG indicators and objectives are discussed, information, knowledge and experience.
