The child well-being index will be introduced in Kazakhstan in 2022, according to the website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

Today, at a Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, measures to protect the rights and ensure the safety of children were considered.

Reports were made by the MES and Science Askhat Aimagambetov, MOH -Alexey Tsoi, MIA -Erlan Turgumbayev and the Head of the UNICEF office in Kazakhstan Arthur van Diesen.

"In 2022, it is planned to introduce the Kazakhstan Child Well-being Index, which will cover the safety, health, education, material well-being, and socialization of children. With the help of this index, the effectiveness of the work of state bodies to improve the situation of children will be monitored," the report says.

Development of the draft calculation methodologyKazakhstan Index of Children's Well-being is engaged inthe Economic Research Institute under the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund in the Republic of Kazakhstan (UNICEF).

The index is developed by Kazakhstani scientists, based on the main indicators in the country, which are also considered in open areas during public discussion of the project.

The Kazakhstan Child Well-being Index will help determine how well-off Kazakhstan's children are in general and in certain areas. It will be possible to track the effectiveness of the national policy in different areas in the context of the regions and clearly demonstrate how the quality of life of children is changing, to point out the problem areas in their well-being.

On the portal of the Institute of Economy.kz there is a vote on the introduction of specific indicators, on the basis of which a set of indicators for analysis will be formed.

Questions about square meters and the consumption of sufficient vegetables and fruits by children do not mean that the employees of the authorized bodies will come to the families and check this indicator. These are questions that help to understand the overall picture of the measures and policies implemented by the State.

The Parliament of Kazakhstan will improve the conditions for the well-being of children on the basis of statistical and survey indicators.

At the fourth meeting of the National Council of Public Trust, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated the need to develop and implement a national monitoring mechanism from 2022 – Child Well-being Index.

Currently, the developers of the Index project have held a number of public discussions with parents, NGO representatives, experts, educators and other stakeholders. As a result, the initial set of indicators has been refined and supplemented, taking into accountthe suggestions and comments of the public.
