The SDG Secretariat held lectures at the Turkestan Online Summer School of Public Administration ERI experts told the students about the institutional framework for the implementation of the SDGs and the assessment of development financing in the Republic of Kazakhstan Employees of the Secretariat for Sustainable Development Goals of JSC "Institute of Economic Research" (ERI) Yerlan Karimov and Altyngul Utebayeva held lectures at the Turkestan Online Summer School of Public Administration. The summer school wa.organized by the Ahmed Yasawi University and the Astana Civil Service Hub. The school program included interactive classes on the following topics:
Deputy Director of the SDG Secretariat Yerlan Karimov told the students about the institutional framework for the implementation of the SDGs in Kazakhstan. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted in 2015, includes a list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals aimed at eliminating poverty, combating inequality and injustice and solving problems related to climate change, the speaker said. «The SDG concept is a three-component model, " he said.
The expert also voiced Kazakhstan's obligations under the Paris Agreement (reduction of carbon dioxide emissions) and presented the experience of different countries on approaches to localization of the SDGs (countries that have conceptual documents (national strategies for sustainable development) and countries that do not have special national documents on sustainable development, to which Kazakhstan belongs).
The speaker's speech also included information about the architecture of SDG coordination in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the activities of the SDG Secretariat in the country and the results of Kazakhstan in the SDG Index-202 1. Altyngul Utebayeva, Deputy Director of the SDG Secretariat, delivered a lecture at the Summer School on the topic Assessment of Development Financing (ADF) in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The speaker revealed the concept of “Integrated National Financing Mechanism " (INFM), told what the need for this tool is, listed the main components for putting it into operation. "Integrated National Financing Mechanism is a tool that helps strengthen planning processes and overcome existing obstacles to financing sustainable development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the country level," Altyngul Utebayeva explained. She also spoke about the methodological basis for Assessing Development Financing( ADF), the directions of conducting ADF in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the need for development financing in the country.
According to her, the indicators laid down in national projects should correspond to the Sustainable Development Goals. At the end of the speech, the speaker announced the main conclusions of the Development Finance Assessment in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the necessary steps for holding the Integrated National Financing Mechanism in the country.
_____ The Turkestan Online Summer School of Public Administration was held on August 16-31, 2021. More than 150 people have registered as students of the School. Among them are teachers, master and doctoral candidates from 30 domestic universities and five universities in Russia, Uzbekistan, Finland, as well as civil servants from different regions of Kazakhstan. The Summer School of Public Administration was held in Kazakhstan for the first time.
