Working meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on the direction of "People" The ERI expert presented the main results of the SDG rating for 2021. A meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group (hereinafter referred to as the IWG) was held today in the direction of "People" Coordinating Council for the Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting was opened by the First Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmadi Sarbassov. Bakytgul Khambar, Director of the SDG Secretariat of Economic Research Institute (ERI) JSC, made a presentation at the meeting, who presented the main results of the SDG rating for 2021 (SDGs 1-5). The speaker drew attention to the indicators, according to which there is a noticeable lag of Kazakhstan from the OECD countries, and also presented proposals for the further work of the IWG "People". Thus, it was proposed to monitor the results of the rating and systematically update statistical data on indicators, develop a plan for localization of SDGs in the regions with the assistance of local executive bodies, business and civil society, as well as work on determining the basic and planned values of SDG indicators. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that the SDG rating indicators have already been included in the developed national project for the development of the Agro-Industrial Complex until 2025, and also shared plans for the upcoming localization of the SDGs in the regions. Responsible for SDG 3 “Good health and well-being”, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan proposed to include SDG indicators in the Territorial Development Plan and thereby involve local executive bodies in localizing the SDGs. In conclusion, the participants of the IWG "People" decided to conduct quarterly monitoring of the work being carried out, as well as update the work plan for the direction for 2021, taking into account the issues discussed at the meeting.
