ERI signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE)

Today, the Institute of Economic Research announced cooperation with the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE). 

The Memorandum provides for the implementation of joint research and projects in the following areas of national economies:

- bilateral trade and economic relations, including to enhance export competitiveness;
- cooperation in the transport sector, including problems of increasing efficiency of the Western China - Western Europe transport corridor , as well as the Belt - Path project;
- improvement of state regulation of entrepreneurship.

Important issues include the preparation of analytical joint research reports for national Governments and public administrations, as well as the mutual exchange of information, knowledge and good practices.

 

It is planned to hold joint conferences, seminars, round tables on the results of joint research, training seminars and guest lectures for representatives of the business community and state bodies; to publish articles/monographs.


It should be noted that the leading analytical center and research institute of Pakistan was founded in 1957. In 2020, PIDE conducted 219 webinars and seminars, published 101 newspaper articles, produced 126 research videos, and has about 126 blogs. 


PIDE studies economics, education, healthcare, fiscal policy, industry, public finance, etc. The Institute performs many activities aimed at supporting dialogue and information exchange between researchers. This includes:


PSDE is the only Pakistani professional association of economists and social scientists since 1982.

Rasta - the Pakistan's largest Social Science Research Grant Program.

Grasp - the team of prominent economists and sociologists on Pakistan's Growth Strategy.
