The third meeting of SCO Consortium of Economic and Analytical Centres

Today, on March 1, a regular meeting of SCO Consortium of Economic and Analytical Centres was held in format of a videoconference chaired by China, the Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.

Deputy Director of the Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China Chu Weixi made a welcoming speech and noted the importance of cooperation between SCO countries.

Representative of the Kazakhstan, Director of the Center of Economic Research Institute JSC (ERI), Dolores Tyulebekova spoke about the need to analyze impact of sanctions measures on trade and economic situation in the region. 

Also voiced research topics were: combating inequality and poverty, green development and the environment, food security, global supply chains, energy security and energy transformation, digital divide, financial and debt risks, inflation and others.

The event was attended by representatives of the Regional Trade Center (India), Economic Policy Research Institute under Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, Institute of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development (PITAD), Russian Academy for Foreign Trade (RAFT) under Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Institute of Economics and Demography of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Institute for Economic Research and Reforms under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The next meeting of experts of SCO Consortium of Economic and Analytical Centres is scheduled to be held on June 20, 2022.

The SCO Consortium is a consulting and expert platform created to analyze priority areas of economic cooperation within SCO and develop recommendations. Resolution of the Council of SCO Heads of Governments (Prime Ministers) No. 120 dated November 2, 2019 approved the Regulations of SCO Consortium of Economic and Analytical Centres.

In 2021, SCO Consortium was chaired by the Economic Research Institute, which was designated a member of the Consortium by the Republic of Kazakhstan.
