ERI and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan

Today, on June 23, an official meeting between representatives of the Economic Research Institute (ERI) and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan has been held. From the Institute's side, the meeting was attended by Ruslan Sultanov, Chairman of the ERI Board, Bakytgul Khambar, Director of the Sustainable Development Goals Secretariat, and Altyngul Utebayeva, Deputy Director of the SDG Secretariat. The Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan was represented by UN Resident Coordinator Michaela Friberg-Story, Senior Economist Marat Shashkenov, and Press and Communications Advisor Elnara Bainazarova.
Mikaela Friberg-Stori presented the main directions of UN activities in Kazakhstan. Ruslan Sultanov spoke in detail about the structure and activities of ERI, explained the work carried out by the Institute in the field of SDGs, including the preparation of the second Voluntary National Review, and gave examples of developed programs and concepts. UN representatives in Kazakhstan have proposed options for further collaboration to help implement the Sustainable Development Goals, a framework for cooperation that includes three key areas: 1) Human development 2) Institutional development 3) Sustainable Economic Development and Environmental Issues.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for further productive cooperation.
