TRADE RELATIONS: KAZAKHSTAN – HUNGARY

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Hungary in January-August 2022 amounted to $99.8 million, which is 11.8% higher than in the same period of the previous year ($89.3 million).

Exports from Kazakhstan to Hungary in January-August 2022 increased by 13.9% – $8.6 million.


The increase in exports to Hungary is justified by an increase in the supply of bird feathers used for stuffing - from $0 to $1.2 million.

Main export goods from Kazakhstan to Hungary: 
  • liquefied propane – $6.0 million (with a share of 69.2%)
  • bird feathers – $1.2 million (13.9%)
  • fish – $510 thousand (5.9%)..

Imports to Kazakhstan from Hungary in January-August 2022 increased by 11.6% – $91.2 million.

The increase in imports from Hungary is justified by an increase in the import of goods such as:
  • computing machines - growth by 60.3% or by $9.1 million (from $15 to $24.1 million)
  • air or vacuum pumps, compressors and fans - an increase of 2.5 p. or $4.2 million (from $1.3 to $10.9 million)
  • medicines - an increase of 11.7% or $1.5 million (from $13 to $14.5 million).


The main import goods to Kazakhstan from Hungary:
  • computing machines – $24.1 million (with a share of 26.4%), medicines – $14.5 million (15.9%)
  • air or vacuum pumps, compressors and fans – $6.9 million (7.5%)
  • other pharmaceutical products – $3.6 million (3.9%)
  • live poultry – $3.5 million (3.8%).


Within the framework of the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

The Head of our state declared his readiness to expand the Kazakh-Hungarian multifaceted cooperation, including in the economic field.
 
In turn, Viktor Orban thanked the Kazakh side fo.organizing bilateral negotiations, noting that "attracting investments to Hungary from large Kazakh companies will bring economic relations to a new level."

In addition, the prospects of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Hungary, as well as issues on the international and regional agenda were discussed during the meeting.

It should be noted that the Kazakh-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is scheduled to be held in Budapest (Hungary) on December 8-9 this year under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov and the Minister of Finance of Hungary Mihai Varg.
