Kazakhstan's Investment Revolution: Record-Breaking 18 Trillion Tenge Surge Unveiled for 2023

Kazakhstan's National Statistics Bureau has released comprehensive data on capital investments for the period of January-December, 2023 revealing a remarkable upswing. 

The total volume of investments surpassed 18 trillion tenge, marking a substantial 13.7% increase in real terms compared to 2022.

By region the most significant growth (by 34.3%) was witnessed in the Mangystau Region. Following closely are the Abai Region at 32.7%, the Turkestan Region at 26.1%, and Shymkent City at 26%.
 
Notably, investment growth is observed across all regions of the country. The least substantial increase was recorded in the Atyrau Region at +0.7%, yet the region maintains its leadership position, contributing 17.3% to the national investment pool.

In terms of sectors, the majority of investments are concentrated in the industrial sector at 45.7%, including significant contributions from mining and metallurgy (26.3%) and manufacturing (9.4%). Real estate operations (construction) account for 17.9%, and the transportation sector captures 14% of the overall investment.

The primary sources of investment remain enterprise's own funds, witnessing an increase from 73.2% in 2022 to 73.6% in 2023. Additionally, the share of the state budget rose from 15.5% to 15.8%. Notably, the proportion of bank financing experienced a decline from 3.2% to 2.5%. Approximately half of all investments are directed towards small enterprises.

The surge in capital investments underscores Kazakhstan's commitment to economic development and regional prosperity, with various sectors and regions contributing significantly to the nation's robust investment landscape.
