
The OECD Eurasia Week, titled “Unlocking Opportunities — Securing the Future,” was held at the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The event brought together over 200 delegates from Central Asia, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, OECD member countries, as well as representatives of internationa.organizations, civil society, business, and the expert and academic communities.
Representatives of the Economic Research Institute were part of the Kazakhstani delegation, including Deputy Chairman of the Management Board K. Nigmetov and Director of the World Economy Research Center A. Raipov.
The discussions highlighted the important role of OECD analytical work and practical policy recommendations in advancing economic reforms, improving trade procedures, enhancing transport connectivity, and strengthening the competitiveness of countries in the region.
As part of the OECD roundtable “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Eurasian Countries: Peer Review of the Republic of Moldova,” K. Nigmetov delivered a presentation outlining regulatory and governance mechanisms applied in Kazakhstan to improve public sector efficiency. He also underlined the significant role of OECD expert support in this process.
The OECD Eurasia Week is an annual event held within the framework of the Eurasia Competitiveness Programme, implemented since 2008. The event aims to strengthen cooperation between Eurasian countries and the OECD on issues affecting competitiveness and socio-economic development in the region.
The Economic Research Institute provides expert and analytical cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OECD.
