20.04.2026

Kazakhstan and Mongolia continue to expand their bilateral trade. By the end of 2025, total trade turnover between the two countries reached USD 133.5 million, representing a 7.7% increase compared to the previous year (USD 124 million).

The growth was primarily driven by an increase in exports of Kazakhstani products, which rose by 2.4% to USD 123.1 million. At the same time, imports from Mongolia grew 2.7 times, reaching USD 10.5 million.

Key Kazakhstani exports to Mongolia include:
  • Tobacco products – USD 26.1 million (21.2% of total exports)
  • Flour confectionery products – USD 6.2 million (5%)
  • Coffee and tea extracts, essences, and concentrates – USD 2.9 million (2.4%)
  • Chocolate and cocoa-containing products – USD 2.3 million (1.9%)
  • Buttermilk, yogurt, and kefir – USD 2.2 million (1.8%)

Structure of imports from Mongolia to Kazakhstan:
  • Horse meat – USD 8.4 million (80.8% of total imports)
  • Potatoes – USD 468.2 thousand (4.5%)
  • Postage stamps and similar valuable papers – USD 382.4 thousand (3.7%)
  • Hosiery products – USD 245.6 thousand (2.3%)
  • Other food products – USD 210 thousand (2%)

The positive dynamics of bilateral trade confirm the steady strengthening of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Mongolia.

Additional momentum to the development of bilateral trade relations is expected from the Interim Trade Agreement signed on June 27, 2025, in Minsk between Mongolia and the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.

This agreement opens up new opportunities to expand mutual market access, reduce trade barriers, and increase trade volumes. In the long term, its implementation will contribute to further diversification of trade and the expansion of economic cooperation both at the bilateral level and within Mongolia’s engagement with the EAEU member states.
