On May 21, 2026, in Astana, Mr. A.S. Bazarbayev, representative of the Secretariat of the National Contact Point of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NCP), participated in the seminar titled “State Support Measures for Investment Activities”.organized by KAZAKH INVEST National Company JSC.
The event brought together representatives of
the business community and investors from Astana, Karaganda Region,
East Kazakhstan Region, as well as Abai and Ulytau Regions. The
seminar was also attended by representatives of the National Chamber
of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken”, local
executive bodies, Baiterek National Investment Holding JSC, Damu
Entrepreneurship Development Fund JSC, Export Credit Agency of
Kazakhstan JSC, and other quasi-public secto.organizations.
As
part of the seminar, Mr. A.S. Bazarbayev, Deputy Director of the
World Economy Research Center at the Economic Research Institute JSC,
delivered a presentation on the activities of the Kazakhstan National
Contact Point and conducted a training session on due diligence in
business operations.
Participants
were provided with information on the functions and operating
mechanisms of the NCP, which reviews submissions related to alleged
breaches of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on
Responsible Business Conduct. The NCP provides a non-judicial,
voluntary, and free-of-charge mechanism for resolving disputes
between stakeholders in accordance with international standards of
responsible business conduct.
During
the presentation, it was noted that the Kazakhstan NCP is the only
operational National Contact Point under the OECD Guidelines among
the countries of Central Asia, the Eurasian Economic Union, and the
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Special
attention was given to due diligence in business activities.
Participants were briefed on the key provisions of the updated 2023
OECD Guidelines, including the identification and prevention of risks
in supply chains, respect for human rights, compliance with labour
standards, environmental responsibility, and mechanisms for
addressing adverse impacts arising from business activities.
It
was emphasized that the implementation of due diligence principles
contributes to reducing legal and reputational risks, enhancing
companies’ investment attractiveness, and strengthening their
competitive position in international markets.
The
participation of the NCP Secretariat in this event was aimed at
increasing awareness among business representatives of international
standards for responsible business conduct and was carried out within
the framework of activities to promote the Kazakhstan National
Contact Point for 2025–2027.
