
The Economic Research Institute (ERI) participated in a conferenc.organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), dedicated to responsible business conduct and the promotion of international sustainable development standards.
The event focused on modern approaches to responsible business conduct, the role of government and business in ensuring sustainable economic development, and international experience in implementing corporate responsibility principles.
In his presentation, A.S. Bazarbayev, Head of the National Contact Point (NCP) for Responsible Business Conduct, whose Secretariat operates within the Economic Research Institute, outlined the NCP’s activities as a state-based non-judicial mechanism for promoting the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and facilitating the resolution of disputes between companies and stakeholders through dialogue.
Particular attention was given to enhancing the country's investment attractiveness, strengthening the confidence of international partners, and fostering a sustainable business environment. It was noted that compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards is becoming an increasingly important factor in corporate competitiveness within the global economy.
Participants also discussed prospects for further advancing responsible business conduct practices in Kazakhstan, strengthening cooperation among government agencies, businesses, and civil society, and raising awareness of international standards in this area.
The Economic Research Institute will continue providing analytical and expert support on issues related to sustainable development, responsible business conduct, and the improvement of Kazakhstan’s institutional environment.
