On September 17, 2026, in Almaty, Alisher Bazarbayev, Head of the Secretariat of Kazakhstan’s National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct (NCP) and Deputy Director of the Center for World Economy Studies at the Economic Research Institute JSC, held a seminar for students, graduate students, and faculty members of KIMEP University.
Participants
were introduced to the key provisions of the OECD Guidelines for
Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct, due
diligence approaches, and the main areas of work of Kazakhstan’s
NCP.
The
seminar covered human rights and labour relations, environmental
protection, transparency, anti-corruption measures, and the
management of risks related to adverse business impacts.
Particular
attention was paid to the NCP’s mechanism for handling specific
instances. Participants were guided through the key stages of the
process – from submitting a case and
initial assessment to consultations, negotiations, and mediation. The
NCP serves as a neutral, non-judicial platform that facilitates
dialogue between the parties and helps them seek mutually acceptable
solutions.
The
seminar concluded with a discussion on the practical application of
OECD standards and opportunities for businesses and other
stakeholders to engage with Kazakhstan’s National Contact Point.
Such
meetings help future professionals gain a better understanding of
international standards for responsible business conduct and
contribute to broader practical dialogue on their application in
Kazakhstan.
