On October 13–14, 2026, the International Symposium on Cooperative Opportunities for China and the Global South Modernization was held in Beijing. Birzhan Batkeyev, Chairman of the Management Board of the Economic Research Institute (ERI), participated in the event.
Organized by the Global South Research Center (GSRC), the symposium brought together representatives of government agencies, internationa.organizations, research institutions, and expert communities from various countries.
Discussions focused on prospects for economic cooperation between China and the Global South, strengthening trade and investment ties, the transition to a green economy, and opportunities arising from digitalization and the adoption of new technologies.
During the opening ceremony, Birzhan Batkeyev delivered a presentation on the prospects for economic cooperation between Kazakhstan, China, and the countries of the Global South.
The symposium also addressed issues related to enhancing the competitiveness of national economies, developing industrial capacity, expanding access to international markets, strengthening regional and global value chains, improving transport and logistics infrastructure, and promoting investment cooperation.
ERI's participation in the international symposium contributes to strengthening expert and scientific dialogue, expanding professional networks, and exchanging analytical approaches to long-term economic development in Kazakhstan and the countries of the Global South.
