OECD national contact points gather in Paris to strengthen cooperation and expert assessment processes

On March 7, 2024, a meeting of the Working Group on Responsible Business Conduct continued in Paris (France). Delegates from about 50 countries take part in the work and discussions within the framework of this platform.

During the meeting, the conclusions and results of the expert assessment of the National Contact Points (NCP) of Turkey and Hungary were presented. The meeting was aimed at strengthening cooperation and increasing efficiency within the network of NCP.

Representatives of the Secretariat of the NCP of Kazakhstan, represented by Economic Research Institute JSC (ERI), also took part in this event.

The morning session began with a continuation of the discussion of the expert assessments of NCP conducted in Turkey and Hungary. Representatives of the expert team from Luxembourg, Peru, Croatia, Italy and Switzerland presented their conclusions and recommendations, initiating a constructive dialogue between the delegates. The presentations were followed by a reaction from the representatives of the NCP of Turkey and Hungary, providing information about their responses and future actions.

Delegates actively participated in the discussions, asked clarifying questions and shared observations on emerging trends concerning the entire network of NCP. The session contributed to the creation of an environment conducive to knowledge sharing and mutual learning, emphasizing the commitment of participating countries to strengthen the implementation of the OECD Guidelines.

After a short break, the delegates resumed the discussion of the expert assessments pf NCP conducted in accordance with the Guidelines of the MNE 2023. Stakeholders have started discussions for delegates only on the draft update of the  template of expert assessment of NCP, aimed at improving evaluation processes and improving consistency between inspections.

The morning session concluded with a review of the Work Programme and Budget (WPB) for 2025-2026, presented by the OECD Secretariat. Delegates provided additional information and recommendations on the priorities of the preliminary WPB, contributing to ongoing efforts to streamline the operational framework and optimize resource allocation.
