Online seminar to explain the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Companies and NCP

On June 25, the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC "Economic Research Institute" held a joint online seminar for representatives of central government bodies, local executive bodies, as well as NPP "Atameken", non-governmenta.organizations and trade unions to explain the OECD Guidelines for multinational companies and the activities of the National contact point.

International investment is the driving force behind the global economy today and the international business environment has undergone a number of significant structural changes over the past three decades.  At the same time, Responsible Business Conduct is an important element of an open international investment climate.  The activities of multinational enterprises often span multiple countries and different cultural, legal and regulatory environments.

Thus, the relevance of the seminar is significant, during which a number of issues on responsible business conduct in Kazakhstan were considered, in particular:

- cooperation of Kazakhstan with the OECD;

- the rules of the interna.organization of the National Contact Point;

- mechanism for submitting and considering applications to the National Contact Point;

- OECD guidelines for multinational companies.

The speakers of the seminar were:

Nurlan Shokbarbayev - Director of the Investment Policy Department of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

Ruslan Sultanov - Chairman of the Management Board of the Economic Research Institute JSC;

Tatiana Zinovich - Member of the National Contact Point, Director of the Public Foundation "Point for Legal Policy Research"


The online seminar was attended by about 40 participants.  Following the results of the seminar, the participants expressed a common opinion on the relevance and timeliness of its holding.
