The OECD is a key instrument in preventing and resolving inter-ethnic conflicts On September 21, Almaty held a Republican Scientific-Practical Conference Culture and Values in Conditions of Interethnic Interaction in New Kazakhstan dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Professor M.M. Suzhikov. Aziza Kassenova, Head of the Kazakhstan Secretariat of the National Contact Point (hereinafter – the NCC) of Economic Research Institute JSC (ERI), and Dolores Tulebekova, Director of the ERI World Economy Research Center, took part in the conference. The presentation examined the experience of resolving ethnic conflicts within the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development through the NCC activities.
In conclusion participants noted that the OECD is a key tool in preventing and resolving inter-ethnic conflicts.
For reference: The OECD is an international economi.organization of developed countries, established in 1948, which recognizes the principles of representative democracy and free market economy. The OECD goal is to pursue coordinated policies aimed at sustainable economic growth and improved living standards in member countries. 38 countries are members of the OECD. Kazakhstan has been cooperating with the OECD since 2008. The NCC is a collegial advisory body that makes decisions on pending appeals regarding violations of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, including disclosure, human rights, labor and industrial relations, anti-bribery, bribery and extortion, environmental protection, consumer interests, science and technology, competition and taxation.
