The needs of the centers and the support of the OECD Secretariat were discussed at the meeting of the NCC Network

A meeting of the Network of National Contact Centers (NCC) was held from November 17 to 18, 2022. On the part of Kazakhstan, employees of the Secretariat of the National Contact Center of Kazakhstan, represented by Economic Research Institute JSC (ERI), took part online. The meeting raised the issue of the needs of the NCC and what support the OECD Secretariat can provide to improve the functions of the NCC and their future work. The following questions were raised about the activities of all NCC:
Representatives of Business in the OECD (BIAC) and the Trade Union Advisory Committee (TUAC), as well as delegates took part in the discussion and exchanged views. After the meeting, the NCC of the Netherlands and Denmark held an informal exchange of views with the NCC of other countries on the topic "Mandatory due diligence legislation: Implications for the NCC on responsible business conduct". During the discussion, issues such as the risks and opportunities offered by this legislation for the activities of the NCC in the performance of their duties, as well as ways to implement them, the interaction of the judicial system with the non-judicial mechanism of the NCC, sanctions and supervisory authorities, compliance with the content of the OECD Guidelines (due diligence requirements, remedies) were touched upon. In general, the meeting allowed us to productively discuss the issues raised and exchange experience on the implementation and impact of due diligence. The National Contact Center is a collegial advisory body that makes decisions on the considered appeals for violation of the provisions The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, including on information disclosure, human rights, labor and industrial relations, anti-bribery, bribery and extortion, environmental protection, consumer interests, science and technology, competition and taxation.
