NCP and the Youth Union of Kazakhstan

On August 4, 2023 the Secretariat of the National Contact Point (hereinafter - the Secretariat, NCP) represented by the Economic Research Institute JSC (ERI) held a meeting with the Youth Union of Kazakhstan in Almaty (hereinafter - the Union). The NCP Secretariat was presented by A.M. Kusmanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board. During the meeting, A.M. Kusmanov elaborated on the activities of the Kazakhstan NCP, its history, and shared the structure and experience gained during the period of its functioning. He also emphasized the importance of the mediation procedure in dealing with incoming appeals to the NCP. For their part, the Union representatives expressed their interest in the dispute resolution mechanism within the NCP. Much attention was paid to mediation and negotiation, as well as the experience of the NCP in resolving disputes with well-known multinational enterprises. In conclusion, the Union expressed their gratitude for the meeting as well as their interest in further study of the best practices of the OECD countries. For reference: The NCP is a collegial advisory body that makes decisions on pending appeals regarding violations of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, including disclosure, human rights, labor and industrial relations, anti-bribery, bribery and extortion, environmental protection, consumer interests, science and technology, competition and taxation.
