NCP and the Department of Business and Investments of Almaty

On July 20, 2023, the Secretariat of the National Contact Point of the RK (hereinafter - NCP) represented by the Economic Research Institute JSC (ERI) held a meeting with representatives of the Department of Business and Investment of Almaty (hereinafter - the Department). The meeting was attended by the Director of the NCP Secretariat A. Kasenova, Deputy Director of the Center I. Beisekeyeva, Leading Expert G. Makanova, and Project Assistant A. Musina. The Department was presented by Mr. K.N. Nurkasymov, Deputy Head. During the meeting, representatives of the Secretariat presented the current work, activities and functioning of the Kazakhstan NCPs and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. On his part, Mr. K.N. Nurkasymov familiarized the Secretariat with the current work of the Department of Investment Attraction, the ongoing work with foreign investors, as well as the activities of multinational enterprises based in Almaty. In conclusion, the parties discussed the existing problematic issues in the field of business and investment, and agreed to work together to promote the OECD standards of responsible business conduct. The NCP is a collegial advisory body that makes decisions on pending appeals regarding violations of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, including disclosure, human rights, labor and industrial relations, anti-bribery, bribery and extortion, environmental protection, consumer interests, science and technology, competition and taxation. ERI is determined by the Secretariat of the Kazakhstan NCP, which, represented by the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan, has been operating since 2017. Department of Business and Investment of Almaty communal state institution is a state body of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which carries out management in the spheres of business, industrial and innovative development, agro-industrial complex, and veterinary and sanitary safety on the territory of Almaty.
