Travelling seminar for the Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Aktobe region

On October 4, 2023, the Secretariat of the National Contact Point of Kazakhstan (NCP), represented by Economic Research Institute JSC (ERI), held a travelling seminar for employees of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" and entrepreneurs of the Aktobe region in Aktobe. The purpose of this meeting is to informatively promote the OECD Guidelines and the activities of the NCP. The NCP is an effective platform for mediation and conciliation procedures to address practical issues of violations of the principles and standards of responsible business conduct by multinational companies. The meeting was attended by D. Tyulebekova, Director of the Center for World Economy Research, E. Serik, Director of the Center for Trade Policy Development and G. Sman, Project Assistant During the meeting, representatives of the Secretariat made a presentation on current work, activities and functioning of the NCP of Kazakhstan, as well as went into detail on international standards of the OECD and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. The importance of involvement of business representatives, both potential users of NCP's tools and possible participants in the further implementation of international standards was noted. In addition, an active civil society, including non-governmenta.organizations, public foundations and other social institutions, makes a huge contribution to responsible business conduct by multinational companies. At the end of the meeting, a discussion took place among the participants on the role of the NCP and the international standards of the OECD. As a result, the participants expressed their interest and great gratitude for holding an informative seminar, and also noted the need for further joint cooperation. For reference: The Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Aktobe region is a territorial division of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken". It was established on October 22, 2013 in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan", as well as a non-profit, self-governin.organization uniting business entities in order to create favorable conditions for development based on effective partnership between business and government.
