"Sustainable Development Management: the experience of the EU and Kazakhstan"

On February 16, 2024, an international round table on "Sustainable Development Management: the experience of the EU and Kazakhstan" was held at Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz (University). The event was attended online and offline by Kazakhstani and foreign scientists, government and public figures, business representatives, financial workers, experts, University professors, as well as the Secretariat of the National Contact Point of Kazakhstan (hereinafter, respectively, the NCP, the Secretariat) represented by Economic Research Institute JSC. Indira Beisekeyeva, Head of Secretariat of NCP, made a presentation on "The practice of implementing OECD standards for responsible business conduct in Kazakhstan". As part of her speech, I. Beisekeyeva went into detail on the history of Kazakhstan's cooperation with the OECD, stages of implementation and introduction of standards of responsible business conduct, as well as the functions of the National Contact Point of Kazakhstan. In addition, she stressed the importance of implementing standards for responsible business conduct, as standards help attract investment, increase brand value and retain customers. At the same time, during the round table, participants discussed the European experience and Kazakhstani practice of managing sustainable development, tourism development, corporate social responsibility of business in the context of regional development, banking business in Kyrgyzstan, etc. In conclusion, the participants expressed their gratitude for fruitful and informative discussion and interesting reports.
