On October 15, 2025, as part of the Civil Forum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a panel session titled “Mediation and Civil Society: New Horizons of Cooperation” was held. Zhanar Tulegenova, Deputy Director of the World Economy Research Center at the JSC “Economic Research Institute ” and Head of the Secretariat of the National Contact Point (NCP) for Responsible Business Conduct, delivered a presentation.
In her speech on “Mediation as a Tool for
Dialogue: The Experience of the OECD National Contact Point,” the
speaker emphasized that the NCP is part of a global network of 52
OECD National Contact Points operating in countries that have adhered
to the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational
Enterprises.
Kazakhstan’s NCP was established under the
Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and
functions as a platform for dialogue among business, government, and
civil society. Its activities are aimed at promoting and practically
implementing the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, which
cover issues such as human rights, labor standards, environment,
transparency, and anti-corruption.
Zhanar Tulegenova noted that Kazakhstan is
pursuing consistent efforts to join the OECD, and the development of
the NCP institution represents an important part of this process.
Mediation, as applied within NCP procedures,
contributes to the peaceful resolution of conflicts, the
strengthening of trust, and the promotion of a culture of responsible
business conduct.
